I took on this project for a passionate couple that was inspired by their daughter's creative writing and franchises like Care Bears to make a world all about preserving the environment. While we've maintained enthusiasm and ambition, unfortunately I think they weren't prepared for the dedication and hardwork needed to be successful in the game industry.
Despite this, I've approached this entire project with energy because I'm excited about this game’s themes and Zindotploohy's potential as a household brand. If nothing else, I think this project is a foreshadowing of the positivity that’s to come from my budding career.

The first image shown here is the original concept for The Land of Zindotploohy, as drawn up by the clients’ amazing daughter. The second concept reflects the development done by the clients, and it’s what my iterations below and the final concept are based on.
It took about 2 months and 10 rounds of revisions to get to the final concept, trying different shapes and colors to finally realize the vibrant world the clients and their daughter envisioned.
What a cool journey and such a special result! ^.^

When the game and story of Zindotploohy was originally conceived 30 years ago, the clients’ daughter drew up designs for the different creature characters. You can see them here, they‘re the photographed colored pencil renderings - aren’t they so delightful?
Designing these characters was so fun, and I really respect the way the clients wanted to stay true to their daughter’s original vision. For example, I offered this little leaf guy as a development but despite how cute he is they wanted to stick with these characters being fully leaf. Later we diverged from the originals just a little bit to make them look more monstrous.
The game features two types of playing cards - trivia and action. I used InDesign's data merge feature to quickly set up each card, carefully reviewing the results to clean up typography.

So cute right? The clients gave me a last minute request for a doll of Zindotploohy’s mascot, so I designed this pattern and hired someone to sew it up. Proportions are a little off, but what a precious prototype.
I put this website together on Webflow. It includes a couple quizzes and a little game that I coded from scratch and embedded.
Hopefully the clients are able to secure funding to continue on with this project.
We've done so much work - I'd love to see it through!
